I have not posted anything in awhile.

We arrived in NYC on January 13, and I love everything about it-- even when it feels like 10 degrees out. I love public transportation, the melding of cultures, food, movies, nightlife, attractions, museums, work, everything.

So far, I've tried three different cupcake places. Tonnie's is the best; it's even better than Magnolia. Plus you can get two cupcakes for $2 with a student ID.

I've only gone to two of the many museums, but plan on going to as many as possible. We hit up the Museum of the Moving Image for class, and it was amazingly fun. They had fun activities and a lot of costumes from the movie "Chicago." I went to the Jewish Museum on one of my days off. It was really interesting, and afterward, I had lunch with a cute little old Jewish lady.

The food here is amazing. I normally don't cook. Instead of going out and getting Whataburger, Wendy's, or Subway for a few bucks, I can go down the street and get decent pizza or chicken shawarma. I was surprised to find one place with sweet tea. However, unlike Bill Miller's and Bush's, it was kind of expensive for not very much tea. I'll probably have to go back in a month or so in order to satisfy my sweet tea cravings.

I went to the Today show the other day. It was cold, but I got paid $50 for promoting Pennsylvania by a PR firm one of the other girls works for. I almost got to meet Al Roker, but the chance slipped by. However, we're going back in a couple of weeks because we made friends with the security guys, and they said they would hook us up.

I've been watching a lot of Scrubs because my roommmate has every season on DVD.

I can't wait for Deathly Hallows!!

Work is awesome. Sometimes it gets a little boring, but I also have time to do homework. I like all of the people I work with. They're fun.

We went to a bar the other day. It was neat because they also had a dance floor, but it wasn't quite like a full out dance club. Their drink prices weren't too bad either.

Yesterday, I witnessed the nerdiest thing ever. The Landmark Sunshine showed Batman (1989, Tim Burton) at midnight. We were (oddly enough), the first ones in line. The guys behind us were the biggest nerds ever. My roommate was surprised that when I started talking to them, they were able to talk back competently. There were about six girls in the whole theater. Before the film, I talked to the random Jewish boy next to me and his friends. Most of his friends were drunk, and he was getting there. Oh, and they were all wearing their yamakas. It was an interesting evening.

I couldn't possibly write down everything I've done here, but I know that I never want to leave. Unfortunately, I'll have to go back to Texas in a few months until I graduate. Hopefully I'll be able to get a decent job in NY and a nice little box to live in.

I'm happy the Colts won.

One thing Incarnate Word taught me how to do particularly well is procrastinate. Which is exactly why I’m writing this entry. I have a paper due tomorrow for my U.S. History class over a novel. I read the novel this weekend, and I’ve gotten the first paragraph of my paper done.

I’m about to go into bitch-mode extreme because there’s these two assholes studying in the library near me. I’m not saying people shouldn’t study. Sure, you’re going to school for a reason. However, I’m saying that you shouldn’t study audibly in a quiet study area, especially when there are other people studying around you. When I actually need to get work done, I need quiet. Seriously.

Another reason I’m so cranky is because I haven’t had my caffeine yet. I forgot to ask for my drink iced, and so I have to wait forever to drink it.

For Post Production today, we had a speaker. It was nice-- he was funny, I learned a lot about sound design/actually working in the film business, and our projects were extended to Wednesday. That means I haven’t done my project yet. Anyway, a few people got up during his talk, which made me curious about the time. I looked at my phone, and saw that I had a voicemail and a missed call from New York City.

I had a phone interview last week with a woman from NBC. She was just the basic internship coordinator and told me she would pass my information on to relevant areas of the company.

A man from NBC Digital Media had called and left me the message. He said he was interested in talking to me, and so I returned his phone call. I basically had an impromptu phone interview, and he said he would be calling back sometime in the near future. I hope it’s soon because I hate waiting for these things.

In other exciting news, the St. Louis Cardinals won the World Series. It made me happy.

Oh, and when you wear short/tight dresses for Halloween, you get hit on hardcore. Ego boost, though. Seriously.

Anyway, I guess I should get going on my paper because I also have to read for Brit Lit and work on my project for Post Production.

Well, I guess I'll start of my post like 80% of my friends: I haven't posted in forever.

Time goes by in the strangest way when I'm at school. The days seem long, but the weeks seem short, and I cannot believe it's October already, and I'll be in New York in less than three months (89 days). I'll probably start a countdown soon. I cannot wait to get there.

I've been working on my internship applications and whatnot. I applied online at NBC and heard back from them. We're supposed to be setting up an interview sometime soon. I've also applied to a post house in NY, but haven't heard back yet. I might try to work where my friend works right now. I feel so grown-up though: writing my resume and talking about interviews and jobs.

I had to get a new ID card today. During my terrible Saturday last week, I learned that the magnetic strip on my card did not work anymore. LAME. Since I forgot to do it last week, I went today. Of course I picked today to remember. Since it was raining this morning, I did nothing to my hair since it was just going to get wet again. Well, my straightener died a couple of weeks ago, so I couldn't do anything this afternoon to fix my hair at all. Anyway, I had heard that if you still had your ID, you wouldn't be charged for a new one. This is a lie. $12. Pssh. She did let me take a new picture though. It's not the best, but it's not terrible either.

Pigskin is this week. It's crazy. I decided to be in SING Alliance before I was even in college. Don't ask me how I knew that I didn't want to be in a sorority before I even experienced college life, but I did. It's exciting that we've made it to Pigskin. My brother did SING for at least two years and never made it.

Really though, I don't do too much. I go to class (sometimes), do homework (sometimes), and hang out with friends and sleep on the weekend, with homework on Sundays. Not too exciting. Oh well.

The Anatomy of a Social Butterfly

It's amazing how I can get almost no work accomplished during an evening at the library. I only went in the first place because I had to work on a ridiculously short group presentation...which lasted all of about five minutes.

Instead of going deep into the library to my "study spot" (the only place I ever get a lot of work done), I decided unwisely to stay in the lobby. Therefore, I saw a ton of people I knew. I also texted my friend John to see if he was at work (on the 3rd floor), which he was, and visited with him for a bit.

This afternoon, I didn't get anything done because I ran into a friend of mine (at the library...again), but didn't feel like doing homework there. We ended up talking for three and a half hours, and that was nice.

I'm a social being by nature and love being back at school where I am surrounded by my peers constantly.

My classes aren't going to be terribly difficult, save for the weeks when papers and tests are due. Other than that, I should be ok.
